PRESS: RUSAL asks PM to cut railway traffic tariff

MOSCOW, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russian aluminum producer RUSAL asked Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in early June to reduce the tariff on railway transportation of raw materials and goods to help it amid the U.S. sanctions, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday, citing two sources with knowledge of the application.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, government officials and companies, including Oleg Deripaska and his assets RUSAL and En+ Group.

According to one of the sources, RUSAL, which spent 24 billion rubles on railway transportation in 2017, wants a fee reduction from July 1, 2018.

Firstly, RUSAL wants a reduction of the alumina transportation tariff multiplier to 0.895 from 1.64 and secondly, cancellation of an 8% surcharge on exports of aluminum alloys and rolled goods.

(62.2511 rubles – U.S. $1)
